Séverine Chabaud
How would you describe yourself?
After graduated from the Ecole du Louvre, I worked two years at the Army Museum in Paris as a documentalist, then another two years at the Hotel Drouot (auctions) where I started managing project and really one of my favorite job experience, and then one year at Cabinet Schoeller, expert in modern paintings and African Art. Finally, I joined the Givenchy House (couture) for three years and since 2015 at the Samaritaine Real Estate, same Group as Givenchy: LVMH. I am fond of Arts and I am very lucky because I always worked in cultural fields and I would not change that for anything in the world. And especially after what we lived due to Covid, we know that culture is essential in our lives.
You are graduated from Ecole du Louvre, far from project management or is it a misconception from me? How did you become a project manager?
It is maybe a misconception because working in a cultural field means most of the time working in project mode with various tasks: exhibition, publishing, mediation, research etc…
What do you enjoy most as a project manager?
The diversity of tasks because the projects are always different from each other, in my current position. I rarely do the same thing twice. Coordination between the different partners is also essential and challenging, which makes it a very interesting job at all levels.
What do you think is the essential skill needed by a project manager?
Organization and communication are keys to succeed in most of project but also being able to prioritize things and last but not least, being reactive. This last skill is particularly appreciated by your company and partners.
As a project manager, what is one thing you would like to improve or learn in the future?
Many things, I am always fond of learning everything I need to know about a subject related to a new project. I learned how to create a collection when I was at Givenchy and during the last 6 years, I learned a lot about construction, real estate etc... I don’t know what will be next…
Do you have any resources to recommend?
Unfortunately, no. I learned everything by myself. Step by step, project after project, you know how to lead things and manage people to succeed in your goals.
