How would you describe yourself?

I would describe myself as energetic, cross-functional, results-oriented and a forever learner. I like to keep a positive attitude and, I see good in every situation. I am working in the energy industry in Iraq, where my role is to maximize commercial value by managing various business opportunities within my organization. I make sure that my work is delivered with a focus on reliability, safety and sonsideration of the cross-cultural in my work environment. I take pride in having been recognized several times inside my organization and outside of it. Recently, I was honoured by the Project Management Institute in their Future50 list for 2021, which recognizes the next generation of project leaders bringing empathy, innovation, and creativity to the workplace.

Why did you become a project manager?

While I manage projects in terms of the non-technical aspects, I have chosen to work in the project management field as it has been proven to be a high demand field that impact significantly on the worldwide economy. As well as it’s a great opportunity to advance my career and personal life.

If you have one tip to give to a new woman project manager, what would you say?

I would say that “you can! You really just need to believe in yourself and take a risk. Yes its not easy and it shouldn’t be! No great things will come out of easy things”.

As a woman project manager, what is the biggest roadblock you’ve faced?

Do you have any resources to recommend?

As studying for the project management professional by the PMI was a real benefit for me , then I would definitely recommend it to the new project managers due to the amount of knowledge in recognizing, planning ,executing and controlling the projects will significantly improve the way they manage these projects and deliver the required outcomes.
