I enjoy deep and challenging conversations where I am being educated and my horizons broadened. I like to motivate my teammates and use my projects to build them while I build myself.
Why did you become a project manager?
I became a project manager because I have a natural knack for planning and executing. There is a certain level of satisfaction that comes from achieving an objective and seeing how that objective impacts future development.
What do you enjoy most as a volunteer in PMI Jamaica?
The opportunity to network with like minded people and to give back in a way that shows the public the value of project management.
What do you think is the most essential skill needed by a project manager tomorrow?
People management. A project cannot be completed without people, people keep the project going. In order to keep persons motivated, it’s important to find a way to relate to them, understand what their goals are, and how the project helps them to achieve their goals.
Do you have any resources to recommend?
I recommend the PMI webinars as well as networking in your local chapter. Meeting other project managers in your area will help you find the tools that are needed to break into the space and provide key tips for how to work with your team.
