How would you describe yourself?

I am a strategic and visionary project management professional passionate about implementing efficient best practices that prioritize people. The Project Management Institute recognized me in 2023 as one of its #PMIFuture50, being the only woman among those selected from Latin America. As a constant pursuit of knowledge, I am a Doctoral Candidate in Project Management and hold master’s degrees in project management and business administration. My PMP® and CB-PMO® certifications support my knowledge and experience in leading successful projects. With a background in strategic roles within the Dominican Republic's Superintendency of Banks and key ministries, I bring valuable insights and perspectives to the table. My passion lies in promoting excellence and contributing to professional and organizational growth.

How did you become a project manager?

My path to becoming a project manager has been a dynamic mix of education, experience, and a drive to achieve successful outcomes. The business administration degree equipped me with a basic understanding of project management principles. At the start of my career, I actively pursued positions that involved project activities coordination and steadily assumed more significant responsibilities. I pursued professional certifications, such as PMP® certification, to increase my understanding and demonstrate my dedication to the field.The hands-on experience was instrumental in shaping my skills. I worked on diverse projects, mastering the ability to navigate challenges, successfully collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, and adapt to dynamic environments. Each project offered distinct insights that contributed to my growth.

If you have one tip to give to a new woman project manager, what would you say?

Be resilient, flexible, continue your academic training, add value wherever you are and never lose the human touch.

What is one thing that helped you move forward in project management?

Keep learning new ways of thinking/working and being agile. This has allowed me to develop a strategic mindset and remain adaptable to the ever-changing circumstances of our environment.
